Art for Social Change is a winter session Rhode Island School of Design course, taught by Rene Payne where students studied the philosophy of making art that informs, enlightens and educates about social issues and by the end of the course, create their own art for social change. I happened to find out about the course and reached out to Rene to connect her to local organizations. I befriended the class and documented them.  More information about the course and where my photography was published here.
The class traveled to the Mathewson Street United Methodist Church to meet the Tenderloin Opera Company. The class listened to testimonies shared about homelessness in Rhode Island and returned to class.
At the end of winter-session, after their final critique the class held a community dinner to showcase their final projects.
